FAQ
Does cropping change my original file?
No. The original image is loaded into an in-memory canvas. Cropping creates a new image from the selected region. Your source file on disk is never modified.
Why is the output always PNG?
PNG is lossless, meaning no quality is lost during the crop operation. This preserves sharp edges and text. If you need a smaller JPEG version afterwards, run the cropped PNG through an image compressor or format converter.
Can I set a specific aspect ratio like 16:9 or 4:3?
The current version uses a free-form square crop area that you can pan and zoom. For a precise aspect ratio, crop generously here and use an image resizer to scale to exact dimensions.
